Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin outlined his long-term vision for Ethereum at the annual Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) in Paris. According to Buterin, Ethereum is currently at an inflection point. This ecosystem needs a period of rapid change before it declines.

According to Butrin, Ethereum’s top priority right now is to build a lightweight client for the consensus layer, execution layer, and layer 2. Another long-term goal of Ethereum is to provide better support to domestic shareholders. Ethereum will soon switch its usage from Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS).

According to Ethereum’s founder, the main goal of ETH will be to launch a full node with lighter hardware. Butrin plans to optimize Ethereum for quantum stance with better cryptographic technologies. Ethereum will most likely integrate with ETH Virtual Machines called zk-EVMs in the future. Buterin further added:

We will keep an open mind for Ethereum development; Because right now we don’t know exactly what the needs of 2032 will be.
