A group of scientists from the University of Kentucky have designed an anti-corona mask. This new corona virus mask can neutralize corona particles with its different materials.

However, during this time, scientists have not sat idle and are looking for a solution to fix it. Recently, a group of scientists from the University of Kentucky have designed a new mask that has the ability to neutralize the particles of the corona virus.

New corona virus mask with the ability to neutralize the spike protein
University of Kentucky researchers, led by chemical engineer Dibakar Bhattacharyya and his PHD student Rollie Mills, have developed a mask that can trap and inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.
In fact, the spike protein is the main cause of people’s illness and is what allows the virus to enter cells and make a person sick. The results of tests on this mask show that about 99% of airborne particles can be filtered with this new mask, and as a result, this new mask can protect you from this virus.
Professor Dibakar Bhattacarya says in this regard:
This new material is able to filter the virus like N95 masks and at the same time has antiviral enzymes that completely inactivate the virus. This innovation is another layer of defense against SARS-CoV-2 that can help prevent the spread of the virus.
During their experiments, the researchers used the spike protein of the corona virus, which was placed on artificial particles. As a result of these tests, their new material was able to block the passage of airborne particles the size of Sars Cove 2 and destroy their spike protein within 30 seconds.
It is interesting to know that the shell of these masks can be manipulated in terms of thickness and holes; So that it is possible to determine precisely which particles pass through the mask and which particles are blocked.
The good news about these masks is that they are more protective than standard N95 masks, which, as their name suggests, filter up to 95% of particles. In addition, it should be said that the new corona mask does not need to be replaced immediately.
Researchers say that these masks can be used for two hours a day for several days and do not cause respiratory problems for people.
