The latest reports suggest that Samsung will use its latest 200-megapixel sensor for the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera.

Since the release of the flagship Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung has used a 108-megapixel camera sensor in three consecutive generations of its flagships. But the latest reports claim that at the same time as some companies, such as Xiaomi and Motorola, are using a 200 megapixel camera made by Samsung itself, the Korean company has decided to change its strategy and wants to use a 200 megapixel camera in its next flagship.

Galaxy S23 Ultra camera

Apparently, Samsung has decided to release the top version of the S23 family, the Ultra version, with a new 200 megapixel camera, the ISOCELL HP2. Of course, the ISOCELL HP2 camera It hasn’t been announced yet, but the rumors tell about its 0.60μm pixels, which could mean the superiority of this camera over ISOCELL HP1. The camera with the same number of pixels was introduced a while ago and we will probably see it used in Motorola X30 Pro and Xiaomi 12T.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra camera will be Samsung's latest Isocell sensor

According to the famous mobile leaker Ice Universe, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a 200-megapixel camera, and this 200-megapixel camera is reportedly a significant improvement over the 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL HP3 cameras.

Yes, unfortunately, Samsung’s strange naming is contrary to expectations and logic, and in the situation where it is said that HP2 is better than HP3, HP3 was unveiled a while ago and earlier than HP2! Or, for example, ISOCELL GN2 was a much better sensor than ISOCELL GN1, but ISOCELL GN5 was not as good as any of them and only had more!

Regarding the specifications of Samsung’s new camera, it is said that since the ISOCELL HP1 and HP3 have 0.64μm and 0.56μm pixels respectively, the ISOCELL HP2 sensor could probably be right in between the two and have 0.60μm pixels.

Also, the overall dimensions of this sensor are currently unknown, however, the 0.6 micrometer pixel size means that this sensor is probably smaller than the ISOCELL HP1, which had 0.64 micrometer pixels.
