The International Data Corporation has recently published a report on tablet sales in the second quarter of 2022.
According to IDC (International Institute for Data and Information), production and sales of tablets worldwide increased by 0.15% compared to the previous year. This is while Chromebooks have faced a 51.4% decline in sales compared to last year.
According to reports, various companies and manufacturing companies have launched 40.5 million tablets in the second quarter of this year, from April to June. But during the same period, the number of Chromebooks on the market has decreased from 12.3 million to 6 million units.
Tablet sales statistics in the second quarter of 2022
In the recently published list of tablet sales statistics, Apple is the industry leader with a 31% market share. Apple’s sales of 12.6 million units were down 2.89 percent from the previous year, but the company still topped the list.
After that, Samsung is in second place with 18.1% market share and sales of 7.3 million devices. In this list, Amazon’s Kindle is in third place with 5.5 million sales and a growth of 26.92% per year.
Lenovo has fallen to fourth place with sales of 3.5 million units and a 25.67% year-on-year decrease, and at the end, Huawei has completed the list of top 5 companies with sales of 2.1 million units.
Also, according to the IDC report, it seems that new entrants in tablet production, such as Xiaomi, Realme, Oppo, and Vivo, performed acceptable and above expectations. These companies have greatly contributed to the growth of the Android tablet sales market in the third quarter of the year.
It is generally said that the increase in tablet sales in the market is due to the establishment of the presence of tablets in teaching and learning projects, as well as special sales events such as the 618 Festival in China and Prime Day in the United States.
In the Chromebook segment, disappointing quarterly sales results have been released, with all manufacturers reporting negative year-over-year growth. However, Dell still leads the market with 1.5 million units sold. After that, Acer is in second place with the sale of 1.3 million devices.
Also, Lenovo has placed in the third place with the sale of 1.2 million devices and holding 19.4% of the market share. And at the end, HP and Samsung are in the fourth and fifth positions with sales of 0.9 and 0.4 million devices, respectively.
