Snowva first generation stair robot It was officially introduced. This robot is very practical and effective for moving heavy objects and household appliances through the stairs.

Moving heavy objects, especially in apartments that accommodate more floors every day, has its own challenges. Especially since it is not just transporting it, but there are also blows caused by hitting the wall, stairs or fences. Freight elevators are still not popular because they take up a lot of construction dimensions. So the stairs are still a reliable way.

Snowva first generation stair robot

According to Tekrato and quoted by Digiato, companies that make heavy products have been working on building stair robots for years. Although these robots have their limitations, they can be reliable assistants.

Snowa currently uses stair robots to deliver some orders to apartments. Snowa escalator robot, which was designed in the logistics engineering department of this company, is considered the first generation, and of course, their number is not large enough to be responsive to all customers.

But it seems Snowva is willing to develop these robots to offer its customers more precise performance in carrying products on stairs with more variety.

Snowva first generation stair robot; Challenges and expectations from the second generation

The first generation of these robots work based on a simple but smart mechanism. Two parallel grooved rails that rest on the edge of the stairs and pull themselves up in a balanced and uniform way. The engine of these devices can carry products weighing up to 500 kg at a speed of 1 km per hour, and the lithium battery of this device works for 90 minutes. The adjustment of the ramp that is the loading area is also controlled manually by the operator.

Although the Snowa stair lifter has solved many of the problems of transporting to the door of this company’s customers, it has shown its challenges over time. The managers of Snowa’s Home Delivery department are facing challenges that they should focus more on in the next design.

More energy supply

Now there is a fundamental challenge. The company’s HD department managers say that the first challenge is energy. Especially when we face a large volume of orders. Using larger batteries can also disturb the balance of the device. Therefore, the first challenge should be to overcome the issue of energy supply.

Rotation

Due to its compact structure, the robot cannot remove the load from its balance axis. Therefore, the load is always in the same direction on it. But stair climbers often need to roll over tall products like refrigerators to get through. It is almost impossible to bring the load closer to the height of 90 degrees, because the robot does not rest anywhere except the edge of the stairs, and therefore, with the vertical axis of the weight, it is not possible to climb or it is possible to slide.

Obstacle detection and backtracking

Currently, this generation does not have a radar and an intelligent movement direction detection system. Therefore, it always needs 2 operators to keep an eye on both sides of the machine’s movement path. The radar system and the direction detection system can allow it to stop or correct the movement when necessary without the presence of the operator.

As Snowva says it is investing heavily in changing its approach to home delivery, it remains to be seen what changes the next generation of the robot will see as a key factor in home delivery for apartments. .
