Regarding what immigrants intend to do to migrate, surveys indicate the desire of students to migrate for study, researchers, university professors and physicians to migrate for work, and startups to migrate through the entrepreneurial channel. The willingness to return index measures a person’s willingness to return after emigrating. Although return is a valuable concept, it is also challenging because there is a rule about return migration, which is that many immigrants want to return first, but after spending some time in the destination country, return to the country of origin. As shown in the table and chart below, 55% of startups in Iran, 33% of doctors and nurses, 37% of students and graduates have said that if they emigrate from Iran, they will never return!

Only 12 percent of startups, 3 percent of doctors and nurses, and 6 percent of students and graduates say they will definitely return to the country.

Undoubtedly, one of the main reasons for not wanting to return from immigration is the situation in the country. The study found that 58% of doctors and nurses and 46% of students and graduates have no positive view of the future of the country, and only 4% of members of this group have a very good idea of ​​the future of Iran.

The index of feeling useful is a kind of analogy about a person’s perception of being useful in the country of origin compared to abroad. In the current study, the highest statistics related to the sense of usefulness and effectiveness in Iran were first related to professors with 19% and then students with 7%. Also, the highest rate of usefulness abroad compared to Iran was related to startups with 27%.
