Establishment of the Supreme Economic Council: from proposal to opposition
Jalalzadeh, the head of the National Security Commission of the Majlis, proposed the creation of a new organization centered on economic diplomacy in the first-line program broadcast on the Khabar channel. Jalalzadeh mentioned in this program:

We made a proposal to establish an economic diplomacy organization in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our friends in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also agree with the establishment of this organization.
But this proposal was opposed by Ali Akbar Salehi, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former head of the Atomic Energy Organization. He considers the establishment of the Supreme Council for Economic Diplomacy as a measure to worsen the situation and instead suggests the establishment of a Supreme Council for Economic Diplomacy under the supervision of the President.
Regarding the establishment of the Supreme Economic Council, Salehi noted:
I don’t agree with another institution at all, as I said before, another institution would interfere with the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The platform of economic diplomacy should be the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but other institutions can also express opinions through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Salehi went on to put forward his proposal and says: “A High Council of Economic Diplomacy can be established under the supervision of the President, and relevant bodies such as the Ministry of Economy, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Security, the Ministry of Jihad, Agriculture and other important organizations in addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. be a member, but its secretary must be the minister of foreign affairs and its president the president.
