The simple tracking feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks, allowing users to check package status without leaving their message inbox.

Google is improving Gmail’s user interface and making it easier to identify emails with package tracking information. In the list view of this service, there is a green text field that also shows the delivery status of your package.

If you want more information about this, you can refer to your email message, right where there is a card at the top of the page that will give you more tracking details. Google says the service needs to work with most major carriers, so it can provide important details at a glance with labels like “tag created, arriving tomorrow, and delivered today.”

Packages not delivered on time, tagged by Google Delay Denoted. Additionally, it brings the email to the top of the list to grab the user’s attention. The service will be rolling out in the coming weeks, but you’ll need to activate it to access it. You can do this by selecting the ‘allow’ option when the card request arrives in your message inbox.

The choice is entirely yours whether you want this feature or not, but if you’re into shopping and like to keep things simple, this new feature might become your best friend. For those who already have Gmail installed, there is no need to do anything extra, you can expect an update in the next few weeks. Just remember to check the option if you want to use this feature.
