The World Football Federation (FIFA) today (Thursday) published the latest ranking of national football teams, according to which the Iranian national team fell two places and was ranked 23rd in the world with 1,558 points. Iran used to be ranked 21st in the world, which shows that it has fallen two steps.
Our national football team played in a recent FIFA match against the Algerian national team, which lost 2-1. The defeat of Dragan Skucic’s students in their only game in the recent FIFA days against Algeria, while most of the world teams played more games, has caused our national team to fall in the world rankings.
This, however, has not diminished the position of the national team in the ranking of Asian teams, as it is still the highest ranked team among the national teams of the Old Continent. Iran, however, remains at the top of Asian football, with the national teams of Japan, South Korea, Australia and Qatar in second place.
At the same time, changes have been made in the overall ranking and in the position of the top 10 teams, the most important of which is the rise of the Argentine national team to the third place, and the fall of France to the fourth place.
