Digital Currency Units at US Universities
The University of Cincinnati in Ohio, USA, has recently added digital currency courses to its licensed courses. The university is considering two new digital currency programs, such as Bitcoin and emerging financial technologies, for its students, and is reportedly expected to launch a public-private lab space as a digital learning center by the end of this year. In this regard, Dr. Dean Marianne Lewis stated:
Students will be able to achieve practical and hands-on learning in the new field of financial technology.
He also added:
Our students will learn how to manage cryptocurrencies and how such assets affect our economy, and this kind of program will make the University of Cincinnati a regional leader and one of the top universities nationwide.
Of course, other top universities in the world are gradually adding courses on blockchain and digital currencies. For example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) recently pioneered this and took the first research approach to a decentralized financial ecosystem.
Harvard also has a blockchain-affiliated student network that hosts weekly discussions called Crypto 101 with more than 200 members, and there is an incubator at the university that allows students to develop their own cryptographic projects.
