China’s revolutionary CATL battery technology
According to the published statistics, we understand the prominent role of CATL. But as competitors grow, the Chinese company lost about 25 percent of its market share in the first quarter alone.
CATL Battery Company recently announced the achievement of a revolutionary technology in the field of batteries. The technology is said to be inspired by the legends of ancient China, Qilin.
According to the company, with the acquisition and use of this technology, the amount of energy density will increase significantly. In addition, with the use of Killin, battery charging speed, safety and battery life will be significantly improved.
More precisely, according to the news published in this field, using the technology of the Chinese company CATL, the energy density of the batteries will increase to 255 kWh per kg. In this technology, charging the battery from 10 to 80% only takes 10 minutes. It should be noted that if the start feature or the same battery condition is active, this time is reduced to 5 minutes.
CATL Battery claimed in a media interview that Killin technology, abbreviated as CTP 3.0, will be completed next year. Thanks to the capabilities of this technology, 1000 km mileage with only one 10-minute charge will be provided for electric vehicles.
If this claim is true, the usage rate of the new batteries is 13% higher than Tesla’s new 4680 battery. The Y model produced in Texas Gigafactory currently uses a new Tesla battery.
It is worth noting that BYD is CATL’s main competitor. BYD is also reportedly set to join Tesla’s list of battery suppliers. If this happens, more pressure will be put on the CATL battery.
BYD batteries for Tesla are lithium-iron-phosphate and will be unveiled in 2020. The batteries of these lithium-iron-phosphate batteries are reported to be safer than batteries containing other compounds.
